Our Story

The Heart Behind What We Do.

Our History

Celebrating 30 Years as a trusted independent child care staffing agency.

The Nanny Network [TNN] was founded in 1995 and was 11 years old when Dulany Reeves Dent bought the company. Dulany and her husband were TNN clients when they needed child care for their own son. This personal experience introduced Dulany to the in-home child care industry and illustrated the critical role it played in allowing families to thrive and women to pursue their full career potential.

The connection between Dulany’s own child care experience and research she did while a student at Colgate University, was especially motivating. Majoring in Economics, Dulany wrote her thesis titled “The Gender Wage Gap: An Empirical Analysis of Household Responsibilities and Lower Earnings” in 1996, which concluded that child care responsibilities were the primary reason for the significant gap in men and women’s pay. Fast forward to 2005 and facing her own personal challenges as a new working mom – and suddenly Dulany’s vision became clear. Quality child care was the common sense solution to leveling the playing field for women in the workforce and unlocking significant economic growth. Acquiring TNN would allow Dulany to own and grow a business she felt passionately about where she could make a difference one family at a time.

Our Purpose

The Nanny Network’s main purpose is to empower families while simultaneously increasing the number of women in leadership. The company is also passionate about workforce development and is committed to offering a myriad of flexible job opportunities with a well rounded benefits package that sets its employees up to succeed, at work and at home.

As the United States suffers from the worst child care crisis, TNN’s commitment to empowering families is as strong as ever. TNN’s powerful technology platform, combined with its finely tuned human-centric recruiting and staffing operations, puts the company in a unique position to scale and help many more households access high quality child care.

Our Impact

The Nanny Network is also intentional about giving back to the community, taking time away from the office to show up and volunteer. Some non-profit organizations that The Nanny Network team has supported over the years include: The Ronald McDonald House, Sharebaby, Eliana’s Light, Maryland Food Bank, Nanny Relief Fund, Kennedy Krieger Institute, ParentChild+, Irvine Nature Center, First Fruit Farm, among others. The Nanny Network also offers paid volunteer time off to encourage its employees to give back.

Dulany’s philanthropic efforts have been focused on the Kennedy Krieger Institute since 2011. With incredible respect for the complex work being done there, Dulany was quick to get involved and has since assumed leadership roles within the organization, including as President of the Women’s Initiative Network [“WIN”] and most recently as a member of the Board of Directors at their one-of-a-kind Early Childhood Development and Education Center [EDEC].
