Back-up Child Care

The Nanny Network offers an in-home back-up child care service for families living in the Baltimore, MD and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas who need child care when they’re in a pinch, typically when:

    1. Their regular caregiver is sick or otherwise unavailable
    2. Their child(ren)’s day care or school is closed for vacations, holidays, parent-teacher conferences, professional development days, etc.

WHEN CAN PARENTS SUBMIT A REQUEST?
Parents can submit a request for care any time, day or night, in their online account via the “book care” form. Someone from our staff is available to assist Monday-Thursday, from 7:00am-10:00pm, Fridays 7:00am-9:00pm, Saturdays, 9:00am-6:00pm and Sundays, 9:00am-9:00pm.

The Nanny Network can typically locate a caregiver within an hour or two; however, the more notice we are given, the greater the chance for a successful placement. Generally, twenty-four hours’ advance notice is sufficient.

    THE CAREGIVERS’ PAY
As of January 1, 2022, all short-term caregivers booked through the Nanny Network will be W-2 employees of the Nanny Network. Therefore there is no money that changes hand at the end of a job. Instead, our caregivers will be paid through the agency payroll including coverage of payroll taxes, tax filings, workers comp, benefits and liability insurance. (Important! If you are interested in booking short-term care between November-December 2021 while we transition to our new model, a daily booking fee of $50-60 will apply and you will be required to pay the caregiver at the end of the job the agreed upon hourly rate.)
